I believe in a holistic approach when identifying and addressing underlying factors that impact sensory motor feeding, nasal breathing, and proper orofacial function.

What is Myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is a series of exercises that focuses on correcting improper muscle function and patterns in the mouth and face. It retrains the oral muscles involved in functions for breathing, chewing, swallowing, and speaking. It can help with mouth breathing, tongue thrust, improper chewing or swallowing, snoring, sleep apnea, tmj, cleanching and grinding, etc.

Myofunctional therapy focuses on correcting tongue placement, oral resting posture, and coordinated swallowing patterns that optimize health and facial development.

Who Can Benefit?

  • Children with improper tongue posture or speech delays

  • Teens with orthodontic issues (braces, retainers)

  • Adults dealing with snoring, sleep apnea, or TMJ

  • Seniors seeking improved breathing or swallowing

I became a Myofunctional therapist to help my daughter."

As a Speech Pathologist and a Mom, when my daughter, Meilia, had difficulty eliminating her thumb-sucking, I started exploring ways to break the habit. I tried everything from thumb guards up to the extremity of an appliance.

Nothing worked until I learned about Myofunctional therapy and a habit elimination program. And poof! With the proper knowledge and dedication, that thumb was out in a month. I am currently working to help reshape her palate and correct her tongue posture and breathing.

Inspired by these techniques and challenges, I have fully immersed myself in training courses to expand my knowledge base. I have successfully helped many children eliminate noxious habits and re-train their oral motor structures. If your child loves their pacifier or finger, I can help break that habit.
